Vitamin A deficiency:

1. Sick sleeper: Dogs need a lot of vitamin A. If they can’t eat green feed for a long time, or the feed is boiled too much, the carotene will be destroyed, or the dog who suffers from chronic enteritis will be susceptible to this disease.

2. Symptoms: The main symptoms are night blindness, corneal thickening and turbid dry eye, dry skin, disheveled coat, ataxia, motor dysfunction. Anemia and physical failure may also occur.

3. Treatment: Cod liver oil or vitamin A can be taken orally, 400 IU/kg body weight per day. Enough vitamin A should be ensured in the diets of pregnant dogs, lactating bitches and puppies. 0.5-1 ml of triple vitamins (including vitamin A, D3, E) can be injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly, or added to the dog’s feed Drop triple vitamins for 3 to 4 weeks.

Vitamin B deficiency:

1. When thiamine hydrochloride (vitamin B1) is deficient, the dog may have irreparable neurological symptoms. Affected dogs are characterized by weight loss, anorexia, general weakness, loss of vision or loss; sometimes the gait is unstable and trembling, followed by paresis and convulsions.

2. When riboflavin (vitamin B2) is lacking, the sick dog will have cramps, anemia, bradycardia and collapse, as well as dry dermatitis and hypertrophic steatodermatitis.

3. When nicotinamide and niacin (vitamin PP) are lacking, black tongue disease is its characteristic, that is, the sick dog shows loss of appetite, mouth exhaustion, and flushing of oral mucosa. Dense pustules are formed on the lips, buccal mucosa and the tip of the tongue. The tongue coating is thickened and grayish-black (black tongue). The mouth emits foul smell, and thick and foul-smelling saliva flows out, and some are accompanied by bloody diarrhea. The treatment of vitamin B deficiency should be based on the condition of the disease.

When vitamin B1 is deficient, give dogs oral thiamine hydrochloride 10-25 mg/time, or oral thiamin 10-25 mg/time, and when vitamin B2 is deficient, take riboflavin 10-20 mg/time orally. When vitamin PP is deficient, nicotinamide or niacin can be taken orally at 0.2 to 0.6 mg/kg body weight.
